I remind myself of this prayer every time I have to do hard things. Ravelry released a new policy yesterday stating, "We are banning support of Donald Trump and his administration on Ravelry. We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is unambiguously support for white supremacy." I saw so many people that I follow share that they stand with Ravelry... "We stand with Ravelry. We stand against hate and racism. How can anyone stand against Ravelry?" I read the policy. No where in the policy did I see that Ravelry is banning against hate, racism, and intolerance. If they did, I would be all on board. I STAND against hate, racism, and intolerance... vehemently!
So I took a poll in my story yesterday asking if a horrible and evil person loves chocolate, does that make me horrible and evil because I love chocolate, too? Most people would respond NO. Ravelry would tell you differently. They say that because I love ALL babies so, so much that I would FIGHT for their right to LIVE, then I must have "unambiguously support for white supremacy."
I don't have a problem with Ravelry making a political stand. It is their right, but I do have a problem when people see evil people do evil things, then assume that everyone else must be evil as well. You know what happens when you ass.u.me? It is never good. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I fight for life, love, and peace. So while I stand against hate, racism, and intolerance, I also stand against prejudice, violence, and murder. Because of their new policy "banning support of Donald Trump and his administration," I'm sorry to say that I don't stand with Ravelry. I wish that they did state that they banned against hate, racism, and the murdering of innocent precious life, but I guess that would be less political.
