I didn’t get to intern at a news organization while I was in college for 2 reasons. First 9/11 happened and my parents didn’t want me in NY for a while and then my senior year I got pregnant. Once I graduated, I worked for FREE at different stations while holding a part time job to pay the bills and being a mom. My first real job didn’t come until a year after I graduated. So I moved to Florida, to only make 25k with no health insurance for neither myself nor my daughter. But I knew what I was following was a purpose. I knew I started my career late but let me tell you God is always on time!!!After years of being in the business, growing pains, mini break downs, to working under narrow minded people who discount your talent and count you out of the game, to finding my voice and working with the right people who are in your corner...this journey has been such a blessing. I don’t need accolades to feel grateful. I’m already blessed I get to do what I love everyday. But I am so appreciative for the EMMY win. It’s a reminder that the universe has your back when you put in the work and remain a kind good person. And no matter who wants to hold you back or down and says NO to you... when God says YES....nothing can get in the way!!!!
