It’s not all about the miles 😎☀️

It is amazing the gift that life gives you in times that you are only getting to know your own self. Friends are family members that you choose to be part of your own circle, are those that stick with you no matter what, no matter the time, no matter the distance... the only thing that matters is the love between each other. This girl @cec_ilg and I know each other from quite a long time, I can happily say that it has been over 10 years of a great friendship. We met on the east coast in the deep of Virginia, literally in the boonies. But there we were able to cultivate trust and respect. We’ve been through our own journey, but never stopped to water our friendship seed and now we have an amazing story and have been there for each other no matter how many miles separate us... We now enjoy the same lifestyle in the wild free nature, I can not wait to see what the future hold for us and how many mountains we will hike together... this is just the start and I’m very grateful for what we have done so far and excited to see what we will do! . . . #friends #friendship #unconditionallove #nomatterwhat #fromtheeasttothewest #memories #goodtimes #letsgoback #mammothlakes #mammothmountain #california #whyihike #naturelovers #minarets #happycamper #happyplace #building #petraflor #choosemountains #highonlife #loveyou 🖤

Enjoying the great outdoors and exercising are my forms of meditation. But what I love the most about being in the mountains, at the beach, or in the dessert, is the feeling of being present. There’s nothing else like it.

As many of you may know this picture represents the start of the “adventure” wedding/elopement movement, a bride and groom wearing backpacks and boots in their wedding attire. My original idea was for them to wear their packs at Mt. Everest Basecamp, but we never made it. . It was my first attempt to Mt. Everest basecamp with my first couple back in 2015. I had all these ideas since 2012. We were on our way up the mountain when the disastrous Nepal 7.8 earthquake struck killing thousands, creating chaos all around us, wiping out the homes of our Sherpas, killing some of groups yaks, while we were stuck on the mountain for some time. Everyone had to turn around and come off the mountain. I never felt an earthquake like that before, and I live in California. It was my most traumatic moment in history. I’m thankful to be alive today. . For those of you who joined me on Instagram after the 2nd attempt and completion of the 2017 Mt. Everest wedding that went viral, this all may be new to you. However, my first attempt was more difficult, and is the part my beginnings as an adventure wedding & elopement photographer. You can read more of the story on my website or you can google Mt. Everest wedding. . Even though my first couple never made it to basecamp, and even called it off while on the mountain, they decided to elope at this location lower on the mountain, which you see before you, at a temple in Nepal, surrounded by our team and Sherpas. This image location wasn’t my plan, but represents all that we went through, a metaphor of strength and overcoming adversity. . I’m thankful to many who supported me during that time @nikonusa and @profotousa teams who continue to support me today. Profoto B2 light used here with a Nikon D810 + 24-120 lens. . #mteverest #adventureelopement #adventurewedding

Six weeks until we’re headed back to the #Everest Region and Island Peak - and we can’t wait for the epicness! ☝🏼 Mingma, pictured here on the left, will be leading the charge as climbing sirdar again. It’s safe to say that 20,305ft Island Peak will feel like a low-altitude vacation for him since he’s spent the last few months guiding Everest, K2 and Manaslu. For all the lowlanders on the team (that includes us!), climbing Island Peak will be a HARD piece of work. 🏔 #ReadySetAWE #AWExNepal #climbforequality

Huge thanks to @americanalpine for supporting my little eagle-caps project. The dream was a fast link-up of Matterhorn, Sacajawea, Hurwal Divide, and Chief Joseph and back - coming in at 21 miles, 9300’ and 11:22 - sadly a route-finding error knocked a sub-10 hour goal out of the park at 8:15 on top of Chief Joseph. Any takers? The idea was born on the way to a fire call in the backseat of a helicopter flying over the divide in 2016 - the same year I bought my first GPS watch and decided I wanted to be a better runner. I’m still not a good runner - but I’ve had the chance to see some amazing places on foot and the inspiration just keeps on coming. Besides, who doesn’t want to rub shoulders with mountain goats on top of high ridge lines and eat peanut butter oreos all day. Also, @hammernutrition you make awesome shit, and @soup.skii I can’t believe you put up with me. #aacgram #goatworthy #dirtbagdreams #shejumps #hammeron #rundirt #selfpropelled #choosemountains #goatsofthewallowas

The journey back to Blighty begins. We started this three week trip with no clear plans, only that we would head for France, Switzerland and possibly get to Italy. To say it’s been completely awesome is an understatement. I’ll return home physically stronger, mentally clearer and with a whole lot more stories to tell in my twilight years. My age changed; I’ve proudly been a part of this planet now for 47 years. I genuinely don’t have a problem or think much about ageing, tomorrow I will be a day older than I am today... c’est la vie 🤷🏼‍♀️ Seriously though people, don’t worry about how old you are, it’s how you live out your days on this earth that matters. Big thanks to Switzerland for being completely insane!! This country has further intensified my relationship with mountains. It’s been emotional at times, and it’s also been utterly beautiful! Anyway we’ll have just a few hours to get our shit together when we arrive home before heading out again for a couple of days, so no time for reflection just yet. (Oh and this picture.. well, as I don’t have any Valium this is how I’m currently preparing for the ferry chaos tomorrow! 😞) . . #Hiking #Choosemountains #Thegreatoutdoors #Getoutside #Mountainlove #Mountainwomen #Livetoexplore #Lifesadventure #Hikerslife #Plantpower #Poweredbyplants #Namaste

Went out to @mountrainiernps to see the Perseid meteor shower with @colbycahoon24 but it was too cloudy so we just mobbed around the park looking for good views! We saw this place and stopped off for a while and just soaked the scene in. Swipe left to see the original to see how much detail can be recovered from a raw photo!

With the completion of the Mount Evans Scenic Byway the road opened unique scientific opportunities. Physicists, astronomers, and engineers all saw potential in the now easy access to research on top of a 14,000ft mountain. In 1995 the Meyer-Womble Observatory was constructed on the summit and is owned and operated by the University of Denver. Until 2001, when it was outranked by an observatory in India it was the highest optical observatory in the world. Research on top of a mountain no doubt comes with struggles and hardships. In the winter of 2012 the observatory’s dome was smashed by high winds and the structure quickly filled with snow. It wasn’t until the following spring when the road finally reopened and the damage could be assessed that the dome was repaired. Today, the Meyer-Womble Observatory sits just below Mt. Evans true summit and continues to discern our place in the universe. 🌌 🔭 🏔 . . . . . #mtevans #denver #14er #rockymountains #mountainstones #frontrange #coloradotography #coloradoviews #rei1440project #colorado_creative #choosemountains #coloradogram #wildernessculture #theoutbound #coloradoinstagram #outtherecolorado #neverstopexploring #naturelovers #thecreative #throughthepines #getoutside #wildandco #getoutstayout #exploremore #denvercolorado #visitcolorado #optoutside #fujifeed

PCT Day 142 (15/08/19) Miles 2021.3 - 2048: It was hard to shake off the sleep that had consumed us so deeply, but we today we had a goal, Ollalie Lake, and we wanted to reach its store by evening to grab a little treat if possible. We descended 7 miles to a river basin before starting a long but steady 8 mile climb toward the Mt Hood Wilderness. This climb took us through woodland, scorched burn areas, across strong rivers, through lush meadow and finally to rid globe that stood between Mt Jefferson to the south, still immense, and Mt Hood to the north standing tall on the horizon. From here we dropped down a winding path over loose rock, and twisted our way past large rolling hills and deep blue lakes. As we neared Ollalie, we thought of cold Gatorades and maybe a sweet treat to take into the evening, but a chap heading SOBO informed us of magic being handed out by the store. We pelted the last mile eager to arrive before it was too late. Sure enough, a blue tent covered a large stove on top of which were buckets of rice, barley salad, mac and cheese, beans, and a traditional Mexican dish called Chicken Mollie (don’t know it’s spelling). The food was incredible and we tucked in with the many hikers who had gathered there multiple times. The store also provided us with drinks and enough snacks to last us to Timberline Lodge. Ollalie had been an incredible success. It was so hard to leave the wonderful people and food behind, but onwards we went. We felt fuelled up and giddy as we walked an extra 2 miles before setting up camp alongside trail. To all those who provide trail magic, you are hero’s and the joy you give is priceless. Thank you.

With the Kootenays road trip fast approaching I’ve given a lot of thought to getting into ultra light gear. Initially it’s a bit expensive to get into but the payoff is worth when you gain space and lose lbs from your pack. For my bday I decided to purchase my first thermarest ultra light quilt to replace my summer bag and an Neoair uberlite pad. Excited to test them out on this 5 day trek. . . . 📷: mserikascott #minimalist #ultralightgear #rockwalltrail #kootenaynationalpark #nps #chooseadventure #optoutside #explorebc #choosemountains #thermarest #welltravelled #ourcamplife #lifeofadventure #thatpnwlife #letsgosomewhere #wildernessculture #adventure #liveadventurously #wanderlust #wildme #wilderness #keepitwild #pnw #pnwonderland #thegreatoutdoors #explore #pnwcollective #stayandwander #travelstoke #instagood
