Here is the first Black Bear caught on camera for this season! She is an older, very large one! She does what most black bears do, she comes at night! She scavengers for food, without disturbing anyone or anything, that would cause her trouble. If I didn’t have cameras or a dog, I wouldn’t have known that she had ever been here, except for the impressive paw prints and her scat (poop). Encounters like this are the best for the bears and humans! As long as she forages at night and avoids humans, she will not be labeled as harmful to humans. It means that she will not be killed. That is why, it is so important not to feed the bears or ever try to make them comfortable around us. It is dangerous for them and us. Never run away from a bear, they can outrun any human. They can climb! These are amazing animals! I love them! I, also, fear them and NEVER want to be close to one. Thankfully, I am usually behind windows and walls, when one shows up! Even then, my heart races! I have watched a sliding glass door shudder, when a cub, bumped it! I thought it might break. We are upgrading our doors, to protect against accidental bear breakage. I wanted to re-post these warnings, this year, so that new readers wouldn’t see the amazing videos and not understand just how dangerous bears, can be. They kill to survive and protect. Don’t put yourself into a situation where you make a bear defend his life. A scared bear is one of the most dangerous, animals. Most bear attacks can be avoided, not all. Please, don’t enter bear areas without learning about them! Thank you for reading my posts and liking them! I love sharing my love for wildlife! Bear season is here and it is going to be a wild one. The last two years were intense, because we had a late snow storm that caused the bears to seek food in lower elevations! It seemed, at times that my yard became the go to place for bears to eat! Lol This year, we had 5, spring snow storms!!! I’m expecting, all of last year’s bears and their cousins and all of their friends! It will be a regular bear-a-palooza! Oh, and family will be visiting! I think I should sell tickets! Come see a black bear treat my yard like a buffet!
