Lucy Cate has reached the BIG 5 today!!! Woohoo!
Lucy Cate often gets categorized as our “hard” child because as some know, she requires little to no sleep! 😉 As a parent who requires a solid 8 hours to function, it took me some time to see past my sleep deprivation in order to appreciate the wonderful things about our Lucy Cate. Her first 2 years of life we had a lot of life changes. We decided to sell our home, relocate, take a new job, make new friends, move away from family, etc.
These past 3 years have grown her daddy and me so much. God has been showing us all the wonderful things that can come from a child who needs less sleep. Can I share some of the amazing things that Lucy Cate brings to our little family?
1. Lucy never wakes up in a bad mood...ever. She is always chipper and excited to face a new day...even if it’s before dawn has broken. It is taking self-discipline, but we are learning to face the day as willingly as she does.
2. Lucy Cate loves hugs! She is the BEST at giving cuddles. No matter if she just got mad at you or you were just mad at her, in her mind, a hug covers a multitude of sins! 💕 Hugs = love, appreciation, forgiveness, acceptance, friendship, greetings, gratefulness. Really, her hugs are one of the best things you can receive from her! We cherish them in our house. Everyone loves a good Lucy hug.
3. Her honesty. As someone who often struggles with being honest when I just want to be “nice”, I admire our Lucy Cate’s honesty. Although we do want her to be kind always, sometimes God gives you a child who says truth without apology and in essence teaches you to appreciate boldness through that child. We can’t wait to see how God uses that boldness when she is an adult!
4. Her energy! It’s inexplicable. We don’t know where it comes from, but this girl faces everything with 110%! She thinks fast, moves fast, and is always wondering “what’s next” in our day to day. We pray she never loses that drive! Happy birthday big girl! #dobiggerthings #thebig5 #loveher #alifecalledmine
