🗝Rutile on Quartz from Mount Kapudzukh in Azerbaizan 🗝
Rutile is the most commonly occurring form of titanium oxide, and is usually found with Quartz. Rutile naturally displays many different forms, from the dark metal look above, to grass-like clumps, to red, almost transparent crystals. It is from the red colour of some crystals that Rutile derives its name: the word ‘rutilus’ is from Latin, meaning red.
Rutile has interesting optical properties, which make it useful for certain optical elements, including polarization optics. It is mined for these uses as well as an ore of titanium, and may be up to 10% iron. Rutile is sometimes the reason cabochon cut gems produce a star or cats eye appearance, as tiny pieces of Rutile cause the light to reflect in unique ways.
Rutile helps make our personal relationships more stable. It can harmonize different types of mental or physical imbalances we may have. It promotes understanding of the hidden forces that govern the universe, and help us to comprehend things beyond our original realm of understanding.
