Why the dead fish hand? This is how #chiari affects me. Yesterday, about 20 minutes prior I had finished an amazing back workout and then my right arm/hand got numb. I call it a dead fish hand because that's how it looks and feels. I couldn't grip my steering wheel much and could hardly press any buttons on my car screen or phone. At the same time my right leg felt weak. I never know when I will have symptoms or how severe they could be. I never know which side or what part of my body will be affected. Anyway after about 40 minutes I was fine. This past week my head bothered me daily. I share this not for pity but to encourage others to stay strong. It's difficult, discouraging, and scary when you are in pain or if you can't move but know you matter. Your story and your strength could inspire other people. In a world with so much negativity, pain, and adversity, we need more love and joy. We need to learn gratitude and to overcome. Today is a good day to start.
