PROTEIN. The material for building and repairing our body muscles and tissues. The regulator for our body processes (component of transporters and hormones etc.). In short: a very important nutrient for our bodies. 💪🏼 Vegetarians and vegans hear this a lot: “so uhhh where do you like get your protein?” Easy. Plants, legumes, grains, nuts and seeds. 🌱 Yes, plant based products do have protein! 😱 So they are very capable of getting protein. 👌🏼 Yes, plants have protein. 🌽 But we must also admit that most plant proteins are not complete/lacking in their amino acid (AA) composition (Amino Acids: the building blocks of protein). Except soy, that is a complete protein! 👏🏻 Vegetarians and vegans must consider: PROTEIN COMPLEMENTATION. This is when you combine two different plant based proteins so that their AA pattern will complement one another, making a complete profile. 🙌🏼 So how do we do this (Source - complement): Legumes (except soy) - Grains, Nuts and Seeds Nuts and Seeds - Legumes Vegetables - Grains, Nuts and Seeds Corn - Legumes Grains - Legumes, Dairy Example in this photo, I’ve got my beans complemented with grains (wheat in the bread). One of the very first things I ask my clients is their why. ‘To lose weight’ is not an acceptable answer. Who gives AF about how much you weigh. These are amazing! I made these from scratch and kind of guessed/eye balled the measurements. They ended up turning out perfect. Sweetened with maple syrup and fruit. They came out really moist. No white refined sugar or flour. I’m a first day unpacker- doesn’t matter if it is one night or 5, I want my things out and in their place. I’m also a clean/neat freak. People maybe, might have, used OCD about that. 🤷🏻‍♀️😉 . Summertime means smoothie bowls and gazpacho! I love soups because blending up foods make it WAY easier on your digestion. Gazpacho usually calls for tomatoes & peppers which fall under the nightshade category. People with autoimmune disease are told to avoid nightshade vegetables due to inflammation they may cause so I decided to make a nightshade free gazpacho. Here’s the recipe: 1 cup water, 2  Persian cucumbers (remove skin for better digestion), 1/2 avocado, handful of greens, 1 tbs olive oil, basil, mint, cilantro, collagen (optional but adds extra protein), all the spices, salt and pepper Pulse a few times in your blender and there you have it! I topped mine with microgreens, more olive oil, and fresh bread with ghee!

Tonight’s dinner was a hit 🔥 Shredded chicken tacos with homemade cauliflower crust taco shells & cabbage salad that I dressed with a sesame dressing that I bought! Recipe ~~ Put 1 pack of chicken Breast in to a sauce pan add water just to cover the chicken. Bring to a boil and then simmer until chicken it white and fully cooked. Take chicken out shred it and put on the side. Chop Sauté one onion in the sauce pan until onion is translucent, add the shredded chicken, 2 cans of hunts tomato sauce . Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and smoky or sweet paprika. Again bring to a boil and then simmer for a few minutes. Cauliflower “taco” shell - 1 pack of frozen cauli rice microwave it or sauté it until soft. Squeeze out access water then add to the blender with 2 eggs, 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast, salt, garlic powder and dried thyme. I have long been passionate about - and commended by professors, family and friends alike on my abilities related to -writing about life and my passions. These words came to me in a moment after prayer when I just let my hand write what my mind wanted in a journal. I instantly became emotional and inspired. The heart and hearth - two places fire burns, two places used to keep our families warm, to show love even when sometimes it takes burning down old blocks - from wood to old traditions and inhumane morals. Entering motherhood has proven a time in which I have researched more times daily than probably in an entire year of undergrad.
