should you keen to deep dive into the world of Samurai, go check out Samurai Museum in Shinjuku!
Located in the most crowded area of Shinjuku, the museum display awesome collections of samurai swords, ancient samurai armors (though some were replicas) and its long history. The tourguide was pretty knowledgeble, plus the staff were very nice and helpful.
They put detailed information on the weapons on display and what was happening in Japanese history at the time of the rise of the samurai including the Mongol invasion of Kyushu in the 13th century. Starting from Kamakura Period (the establishment of feudalism in Japan), The Edo Period (The peaceful period), and Meiji period (A period influenced by Western scientific, technological, philosophical, politic etc.) and for me all the stories were really engaging and you'll become even more fall in love with Japanese culture and its history!
In the near end of the tour, together we watched Samurai performance! 2 Samurais fight in performe entertaining choreography! The tourguide then asked the visitor to step up and learn samurai fight in front of audience, I quickly raised my hand before anyone did. Then I had to learn some moves real fast, then we created some fighting performance to all visitors, but of course I won the battle! LOL.
The experience end with visitors wearing samurai armors for free and even can take picture with it!
For you who love Samurai, japanese culture and their fascinating history, this place is totally a samurai-galore!
