The long legged buzzard
You might have thought this to be a caption for today’s microblog but no, the common name of this majestic beauty is ‘Long-legged Buzzard’ attributing to its length of legs.
Buzzards are fairly common but to view this particular species, you will need to travel to central India or regions closer in Asia, Europe or Africa.
I created this image to share a few specifics: First, a moment frozen to showcase the length of the bird’s legs from which it got its name. Second, to show its size, this one being the largest species of the genus it belongs to. Third, to show its habitat - open areas, with high bushes and trees.
This was my second sighting of this beauty in the season and wow, what a mighty show it gave. The one here seemed to be a male, the females are much larger.
