HU University of Applied Sciences is designed by @shlarchitects and can be found in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Photography by @adammork.
This project was a massive design exercise, which was undertaken after several universities were merged under one banner. Now with multiple campuses the functioning became extremely difficult, This new consolidation was brought about in 2018 and a new campus was conceived. This building stands at an important juncture and was to cater to over 5000 students, faculty, visitors etc. Spread across 3000 sq.m, the heart of this design is the central atrium. This atrium is where most of the movement and interaction happens. With a multitude of staircases in various directions, it is an extremely dynamic volume. Flashes of bright colour also lift up the mood. All in all the space is beautifully lit and the overall use of white colour lifts up the vocabulary of this space, keeping the space vibrant, happy and bright through the day.
