@thedesignemotive: Designed by Glenn Murcutt, the 2019 @mpavilion has been unveiled. Wanting to prioritise the view to the Yarra river and the city skyline beyond, this year's MPavilion will be a rectangular plan with steel frames to support the wing-like trusses, covered in a tensioned translucent fabric. The curved roof allows for shade and protection from the rain, and retractable fabric blinds along the south elevation provide wind protection when needed. At night, concealed LED lighting within the roof will light up the structure, much like an lantern.⠀ ⠀ "The MPavilion design is a crisp white building that will be lit at night like a lantern, giving the pavilion a feeling of lightness. For me it was central to establish a sense of ‘place’ for visitors—to view from within the building, the gardens, the river, and the city.” – Glenn Murcutt AO⠀ ⠀ Who else is excited for this? I know I am. ⠀ Sketches by Glenn Murcutt⠀ Commissioned by @nmf_au ⠀ See @mpavilion for more MPavilion will open free to the public on Thursday 14 November 2019, mark your calendars! ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive

A wise man once said, "God is in the details" and this is particularly true for Milroy Street by @megowanarchitectural. A fireplace beautifully aligns with the ridge of a new vaulted ceiling, detailed joinery, and brick and concrete details help create a contemporary interior. The home boasts carefully thought-out alignments and details, in which the builder was able to execute, quite successfully.⠀ ⠀ What do you think of the brick, concrete and fireplace spot?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by @elisescott_creative ⠀ Built by @capabuilddevelopments#TheDesignEmotive Published with

Milroy Street by @megowanarchitectural is a complete overhaul of an Edwardian house with a colour scheme even the most diehard LA Lakers fan would cringe at.⠀ ⠀ The existing living area and bedrooms at the front were converted into three bedrooms and two new bathrooms. At the rear, internal walls and a claustrophobic kitchen were removed, and in its place, a new spacious kitchen, living and dining which soaks in the northern sun.⠀ ⠀ Bathroom goals anyone?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by @elisescott_creative ⠀ Built by @capabuilddevelopments ⠀ ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive Published with

The Skin Job by @architecture_architecture was tailored to the needs of the couple and their three girls. Stepping in and out, the new facade provides nooks for quiet play and reading together, a servery for outdoor entertaining, seating which is perfect for afternoon snacks, and a threshold delineating between indoor and outdoor, house and yard.⠀ ⠀ Who else wants a concrete indoor/outdoor fireplace?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by ⠀ ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive

The Skin Job by @architecture_architecture was designed to open the existing kitchen, dining and living area to the northern sun and backyard. The previous extension was removed, in its place a concrete counter from the kitchen with a giant awning window, outdoor bench seating, giant sliding door, internal bench seating and a concrete fireplace, both inside and out.⠀ ⠀ “We really enjoyed the whole renovation experience! Architecture Architecture came up with a really creative concept which is so much more than we’d envisaged. Having their eagle eye during the build was fantastic – they ensured that the top-quality work we were looking for was delivered.” – Kate and Dave⠀ ⠀ Who else is digging this?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by ⠀ ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive

St Georges by @fieldwork_architects boasts spacious and open light-filled interiors, using timbers and whites with hints of grey. The built-in window seat under the pitched roof allows you to feel like you're perched in the treetops, creating a perfect opportunity to say 'hello' to feathery friends.⠀ ⠀ Home goals anyone?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by @peterclarkephoto ⠀ Built by @mancinimade ⠀ ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive

St Georges, designed by @fieldwork_architects and built by @mancinimade , is a four-townhouse development on the edge of native parklands. Designed to feel natural, the townhouses connect with the surrounding nature and sit unassumingly. Beautiful timber cladding and dark metal cladding references the trees and the charcoal bark.⠀ ⠀ Who else wants a home amongst the trees?⠀ ⠀ Photographed by @peterclarkephoto ⠀ Built by @mancinimade ⠀ #TheDesignEmotive
